Dr. Harlan Eagle, Executive Director

In 1990, Harlan Eagle brought a lifelong love of camp to The Salisbury School and helped transform a half-day, four week enrichment program into the first private, full-day camp on the Lower Shore. Under his leadership the camp has achieved ACA (American Camping Association) Accreditation, expanded it offerings to a full year-round program, created The Odyssey Academy for middle and high school students and helped bring the Horizons National Program (for children from economically disadvantaged families) to Salisbury. During the school year he works with the experiential education program Beyond the Limits and Salisbury University's Outdoor Education program.

Harlan, also known as "Dr. Z" (for "zany") to the kids, holds a doctorate in Education from the University of Maryland and has worked in the field of education for more than two decades. In 2005 he received the Association for Experiential Education's "Outstanding Educator of the Year" award. He lives in Salisbury with his wife of 19 years and their three school-age daughters.

Barb Farrell, Associate Director

Barb Farrell, who is a middle school math teacher during the school year, has a Masters Degree in Mathematics and is married with one adult daughter. She has been a part of Camp Odyssey since it began in the summer of 1990. For five years, Barb led the 6 year old campers as their counselor. From there, Barb became the Assistant Director, which included making sure the camp was in compliance for the annual inspection by the state licensing agency. Her other major responsibility was to train and work with group leaders in the area of effective group management and camp regulations. Now serving as Associate Director, Barb is responsible for evaluating camp programs to ensure they meet the standards for the highest rating possible set forth by the accrediting agency, the American Camp Association. Barb loves outdoor activities and is the director of the Greenbrier Camping Adventure, where she leads campers on a week of whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking, and of course, camping.

Jeff Livingston, Day Camp Director

“King Jeff” Livingston was raised in Salisbury before making his way across the Bay to reside in Richmond, Virginia.  A class of ’91 Salisbury School graduate, ’95 Parkside High School graduate, ’99 (Bachelor’s) and ’00 (Master’s) University of Richmond graduate, Jeff has been teaching first grade at Pole Green Elementary School in Mechanicsville, Virginia for eight years.

Jeff spent 19 summers at Camp Odyssey (1987-2005), dating back to pre-Dr. Z years, as a camper, C.I.T., Group Leader, Sanitation Engineer, C.I.T. Program Coordinator, Assistant Director, and Day Camp Director.  Following the summer of ’05, Jeff retired from Camp Odyssey.  On July 14, 2007, Jeff married his beautiful bride Emily as they began their life together as King and Queen of their own kingdom.

For Jeff, Camp Odyssey lies within his heart, thus he makes his return in ’08 for what he anticipates will be Odyssey’s most magnificent, magical, and memorable summer yet!
