Barb Farrell, Associate Director

Barb Farrell, who is a middle school math teacher during the school year, has a Masters Degree in Mathematics and is married with one adult daughter. She has been a part of Camp Odyssey since it began in the summer of 1990. For five years, Barb led the 6 year old campers as their counselor. From there, Barb became the Assistant Director, which included making sure the camp was in compliance for the annual inspection by the state licensing agency. Her other major responsibility was to train and work with group leaders in the area of effective group management and camp regulations. Now serving as Associate Director, Barb is responsible for evaluating camp programs to ensure they meet the standards for the highest rating possible set forth by the accrediting agency, the American Camp Association. Barb loves outdoor activities and is the director of the Greenbrier Camping Adventure, where she leads campers on a week of whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking, and of course, camping.

Joe Hastings, Year-Round Programs, Assistant, CIT Director

When he is not spending his time wrangling vicious, deadly koala bears in Norway, Joe Hastings, lovingly known as “Sloppy Joe” gets to relax and be himself at Camp Odyssey. Sloppy Joe is responsible for creating the zany theme days and the activities that make each day so much fun. It is rumored that he was actually born on Mud Madness day somehow spontaneously generating from the mud and the zany spirit in the air that day. This is Joe’s first year as CIT director after being handed the reigns from the legendary Matt “Hammy” Hampton. Joe is looking forward to training these gifted young teens to become the zany leaders of tomorrow. When Joe is not at camp or in Norway, he works at Delmar Elementary School working with the 1st grade. Sloppy Joe proudly holds a B.A. in Philosophy and an M.B.A. both from Salisbury University. He lives in Mardela and loves to surf, cycle, fish and play disc golf with his friends.
