Extraordinary Academic Experiences
Are you a middle or high school student (or the parent of one) who needs something a bit different to shake up your summer? Then The Odyssey Academy is for you! Whether you want to solve a mystery, practice a sport, prep for an upcoming high school course, or indulge your artistic viewpoint, every day is special at OA.
Under the guidance of Program Director Erin McAfee (teacher at The Salisbury School), courses are led by experienced staff who love teaching and sharing. Pick the program or programs that speak to your interests and register on our website! (The same 10% discount until March 31 applies to Academy programs as well)

Diamond Dreams Sports Conditioning

Forensics CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Techniques
Ever wondered if the crime scene techniques detectives use on television really work? Here's your chance to find out. This hands-on, laboratory-based program allows students to become the investigators analyzing evidence at the scene of the crime. Participants will perform everything from fingerprinting to glass analysis, casting impressions, analyzing blood splatters, hair samples, DNA, soils, fibers, fabric, tire tracks, body bugs, arson accelerants, gun shot residue, the works! Throughout the course of the week students will work together as a team to perform real analysis of evidence and solve a staged crime scenario. Only the crime is pretend! Digital Photography
Explore the digital age of still photography with professional photojournalist Joey Gardner, who brings more than 20 years of experience in the field. Learn to take great candid, action and posed pictures and then present them in the variety of ways digital photography provides.

Chemistry Prep
Students will have the opportunity to learn essential concepts in chemistry that will prepare them for High School or advanced study in chemistry. Topics covered by Odyssey Academy Program Director Erin McAfee will include atomic structure, electron arrangement, the periodic table, and chemical reactions.

Delmarva Cross Country
Runners will learn how to prepare for the upcoming season, racing strategies, conditioning, strength and flexibility training. Each day consists of a training session and classroom session. The week concludes on Saturday with participation in a 5K (3.1 mile) race at Winter Place Park in Salisbury. Jim Jones, Head Coach of Salisbury U's extremely successful cross-country and track and field teams presents our third annual cross-country camp. Other local coaches will assist. This camp is designed for the novice as well as the advanced runner striving to reach higher levels. Registration includes entry fee into Saturday's race!

Tech Lab
Students will have the opportunity to learn essential and basic/advance computer concepts that will prepare them for their future with technology. Throughout each course of each week, the students will have projects and assignments that will be saved on a CD for them to take home and keep to show there family. Also they will have the chance to win awards, advanced skills, and special programs. Courses taught by resident Camp Odyssey Computing Expert Cody Whitelock.
*Prerequisite: Students must have prior knowledge of a computer (such as using the basic tools, keyboard, mouse, monitor, CPU, etc).
Advanced Microsoft Programs
Students will have the opportunity to learn essential and basic/advanced Microsoft concepts that will prepare them for High School or advanced study in computers. Topics that will be covered will be Intro to Microsoft, Microsoft Outlook/Express, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
Website Design
Create your own website of your own ideas. Students will make, design and show there own website. Topics that will be covered will be Intro to Internet, Website Design, and Website Making. This will be an online masterpiece that you will never forget and will enjoy forever.
Game Making/Design and Media
Create your own 3D Game from your own ideas. Students will make, design, play, and show there own 3D games. Topics that will be covered will be Intro to Gaming, Game Design, and Game Making. Also they will learn how movies, music, and video games are made and how they are involved with computers. This course will change how you look at the entertainment industry in a unique and awesome way.

Phun With Physics (Precision Collisions)
Explore the world of physics in ways never before imagined! If smashing, launching, flinging, and dropping is what you’re interested in, phun with physics is the camp for you. Students will explore the concepts behind flying frisbees, building bridges, chunkin pumpkins and much more. Under the guidance of instructor Matt Marine, students will learn how to work together to learn about the mechanics of motion.

AQUA-Marine: The Ecology of Water
This camp offers students the opportunity to learn more about aquatic environments and the creatures that call the water home. Through hands on explorations and trips to local water ways, students will explore the unique aquatic ecosystems on the Eastern Shore and how to preserve this fragile natural resource.

"Grossology"
Learn the real science behind fascinating, weird, and gross natural phenomena! Students will use basic chemical and biological concepts to create and explore potions, slimes, foods, crystals, and other interesting substances. Be prepared to get messy!

The Writer's Advantage: The Grammar You Need to Ace the SAT Verbal
Learn the grammatical and structural principles which will allow you to ace the "Recognizing Sentence Errors" and "Improving Sentences" section of the Verbal portion of the SAT. Topics covered include: Verbs & Verbals (agreement, principle parts, gerunds, participle, etc.), Sentence Structure (parallelism, fragments & run-ons, clause construction, modifiers, etc.) Pronouns (agreement, antecedents, pronoun shift, etc.), and Vocabulary (similar words, comparatives & superlatives, idioms, etc.)
Classes will focus on learning the grammar and vocabulary which will not only prepare you for the SAT, but will also give you the tools and information you need to improve your academic writing skills. This is not a course to teach you how to "psych out" the test or just make good guesses. You will actually learn how to improve your command of the English language. The Odyssey Music Institute of Music Theory
This camp is for current band, piano, and chorus students (6 th-8 th grade) wishing to sharpen their knowledge of music theory.
Topics to be covered include staff reading, intervals, key signatures, chords, time signatures, rhythm/counting, musical forms and eras, and other topics suggested by local music teachers. Each day of camp will be organized as follows:
9:00-10:00—learning/review of daily theory topics, including fun drills and activities
10:00-10:30—camper performances (on a volunteer basis—piano and CD player available, bring your band instrument if desired); listening examples from different musical eras
10:30-11:00—“rhythm time”—interactive drills, “raps,” and games
11:00-12:00—group games, musical board games, and interactive activities to reinforce the daily theory topics
Explore detailed music theory in this piano-based course led by veteran instructor Susan Boone.

New York City Exploration Week
Spend a week with veteran NYC experts to explore all the city has to offer! Just some of the ideas we have in mind for our fun filled days and nights in The Big Apple: See a Broadway play and meet the stars, visit NBC studios and be in the TODAY show audience, tour Chinatown, eat at America's first pizzaria in Little Italy, take a tour of Yankee Stadium, visit the Empire State building and Rockefeller Center, museums galore, visit the Ghost Busters original fire house, have a picnic in Central Park, see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, visit Ground Zero, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, see Coney Island, walk Times Square. The ideas are endless in the city that never sleeps! Full schedule and itinerary coming - be sure to check back often!
